Patrick Hynes: Jason Osborne Will Make a Great Speaker

Jason Osborne

In a new opinion column published by the New Hampshire Union Leader, writer Patrick Hynes argues that House Majority Leader Jason Osborne, R-Auburn, should be the next Speaker of the New Hampshire House. Hynes frames the choice as an opportunity to build on the New Hampshire GOP’s record of limited government and freedom.

“By electing Majority Leader Jason Osborne, R-Auburn, to the Speakership, they can continue and strengthen the New Hampshire GOP’s commitment to preserving freedom.”

Hynes points to Osborne’s experience leading the caucus and a long list of conservative wins he helped drive as Majority Leader. “Thanks in no small part to Osborne, New Hampshire has cut taxes multiple times, helped retirees and savers by eliminating the interest and dividends tax entirely, strengthened Second Amendment protections, and expanded the wildly successful Education Freedom Accounts (EFA) program,” he writes.

He also notes Osborne’s plans to be active on the campaign trail this summer, writing that Osborne “has committed to spending the summer traveling the state and campaigning directly for GOP candidates” to protect and grow the House majority. Hynes closes with a direct endorsement: “Jason Osborne has proven his mettle as Majority Leader. He is the right choice for the next Speaker of the House.”
