AUBURN, N.H. - House Majority Leader Jason Osborne today announced five more endorsements in his campaign for Speaker of the New Hampshire House: Rep. Sue DeLemus (R-Farmington), Rep. Jess Edwards (R-Auburn), Rep. Mark McLean (R-Manchester), Rep. Mary Murphy (R-Francestown), and Rep. Paul Terry (R-Alton). Their support brings to 21 the number of House Republicans and candidates publicly backing Osborne for Speaker.
“My confidence in New Hampshire’s future was renewed this weekend as we watched the entire world celebrate the 250th anniversary of the longest-running Republican government on earth, and I know that our best years are ahead,” said Osborne.
“It is an immense honor to have the support of so many of those who are in the arena with me, fighting by my side, to preserve and grow what our forefathers gave us: a government that lives within its means and respects its citizens.”
“I’ve worked with Jason for 12 years in a variety of settings. He has at his core a participatory style. His vision and intellect gives him the ability to provide inspiration to others and a strong position in negotiating. He’s broadly known to be an ethical and principled person, a man to be trusted,” said Rep. Jess Edwards (R-Auburn).
Rep. Sue DeLemus (R-Farmington), who has served in the New Hampshire House off and on since 2010, offered an extended endorsement:
“After being in the New Hampshire House of Representatives off and on since 2010, I have seen many years of hard work protecting the Citizens of our great state from higher taxes and the loss of freedoms which are always under attack from those who want to spend other people’s money and run our lives for us instead of letting us run our own lives as we see fit. We have had great Speakers and not so great Speakers at the helm.
Under Jason Osborne’s leadership I have seen many goals from 2010 and on, moved into the win column. It’s wonderful to see. Jason has been a very fair and strong leader in the House and I am honored to endorse him as the next Speaker of the NH House of Representatives. He values the New Hampshire way all the way. As a native New Hampshire girl I appreciate his passion for keeping New Hampshire, New Hampshire.
Please join me in supporting Jason for Speaker of the House for our next Session.”
“As a reliable conservative vote who has consistently backed Republican priorities through hundreds of recorded votes, I’m confident Jason Osborne has the judgment to lead the New Hampshire House. I’m glad to endorse him for Speaker,” said Rep. Mark McLean (R-Manchester).
“As Majority Leader, Jason demonstrated skill in uniting legislators on policy decisions and crafting the party’s legislative agenda of individual freedom, limited government, and fiscally conservative budgeting. I feel he has done much to help other Republican candidates succeed, and will be an effective Speaker,” said Rep. Mary Murphy (R-Francestown).
“Jason Osborne has the leadership to keep our caucus united and focused on the cause of freedom and Republican success, which is why I’m proud to endorse him for Speaker,” said Rep. Paul Terry (R-Alton).
In an op-ed published last week by NH Journal, former House Speaker and current Manchester candidate Bill O’Brien made his case for Osborne:
“In 2010, when I became Speaker, my House colleagues and I made that choice. We chose to protect the New Hampshire Advantage. I know Jason Osborne will do the same. That is why I strongly endorse him to be the next Speaker of the New Hampshire House.”
